Elexon lists Approved Communications Methods whose compliance to use for remotely communicating with SettlementMetering Equipment has been approved under BSCP601. The Approved Communications Method Document is updated when a new Communications Method is approved or an existing Communications Method is “end-dated”. A redundant communications method can have a “installation end date” which means that communications method should no longer be installed as SettlementMetering Equipment or a “flow end date” which means the two character code (EMDS Data Item J0386) should no longer be populated in the relevant Meter Technical Details Flow.
For more information on the process to amend the Communications Method Document please see Sections 2.8 and/or 2.9 of BSCP601.
For the avoidance of doubt this process does not apply to SMETS Meters or Metering Systems registered in CVA.
